Hand Embroidered Serape
This piece is part of our Maya Collection. Hand embroidered on loomed cloth, this piece is an exquisite accessory for a dress or skin-tight blouse. They can be dressed-up or dressed-down, depending on what you're wearing it with. Surprisingly warm, these are perfect for fresh weather that isn't cold, but not necessarily warm.

This piece is completely handmade. The cloth was made on a treadle loom before the hand-embroidered designs were added. The last photo shows the back of the cloth. This is the easiest way to tell is something is handmade, as you can see the tied ends, and the back-threads are the same colour as teh designs. Machine made pieces generally have thin white threads at the back, as the artists do not change the back-thread colours to match the frontal design due to labor. Often, machine made pieces also have remnants of the pattern still attached to the back.
